St Johns 2-6 Tullylish 1-13

ACPRL Division 2

Sunday 28 August 2011

@ St Johns

St Johns Reserves lost 2-6 to 1-13 to Tullylish on Sunday at Pairc Naomh Eoin.  In the first half the Johnnies played against the wind but opened the scoring when a well worked move resulted in Darren Burns finishing to the net. They found the wind difficult to deal with the rest of the half and despite their best efforts, couldn’t register another score which resulted in the visitors holding a 0-9 to 1-0 half time lead.

The tables were turned in the second half and the Johnnies used the wind to their advantage and with 10 minutes remaining in the second half had tagged on 6 points to level the game whereas Tullylish at this stage had failed to score.  It was then that the visitors broke down the field and scored a goal against the run of play.  This was quickly followed by 3 more points for the visitors and the game seemed out of reach for the Johnnies but to their credit they continued to fight for every ball and were rewarded when Conor Morgan converted a penalty after Sean Clarke was fouled in the penalty area.

Tullylish scored the final point of the game to leave the final score St Johns 2-6 Tullylish 1-13.
