Ballyholland Harps 2-13 St Johns 0-12 ACPRL Division 2 Sunday 19 June 2011 @ Fr Lynch Park, Ballyholland St Johns reserves travelled to Fr Lynch Park on Sunday to take on ACPRL Division 2 second placed side Ballyholland Harps. The Johnnies were looking to build on their good performance the week previous in Longstone and started the better of the two sides and took the lead through an early Eugene O?Boyle point. There was nothing between the teams in the first half as St Johns tagged on points from Alan Henderson, Anthony Doran and Ryan Gordon but the home side kept in touch throughout and the sides went in at half time with the scores 0-4 to 0-4 apiece. Again St Johns scored the first point of the second half through Alan Henderson but Ballyholland responded by scoring a goal which put them in a lead the Johnnies were never able to catch up on. St Johns never dropped their heads and continued to fight for every ball and matched the home side in all departments but crucially Ballyholland were able to call on fresh legs from their bench throughout the second half. There was never more than 3 points between the teams with additional St Johns points coming again from Alan Henderson, Eugene O?Boyle, Ray Addis, Barry Russell, Jonty Addis and Neil Murray. Ballyholland scored a late goal and a point just before the final whistle to extend their lead but the Johnnies can be proud of the effort they put in over the 60 minutes and hopefully they can take this form into the remainder of their games this season.
